Back Tracking--Their Blessing
This a picture from their blessing day. YES, we are as exhausted as we look! :)
Many people ask me if I ever mix up our twins. The answer is not very often. I don't think that means I'm a good or bad mom if I mix them up, I just think I'm always the one changing them into the clothes they're wearing--so I remember. When they get older Stewart's only distinguishing birthmark (tiny red spot on the top of his head) will be covered with hair, but if they try to trick me too much, I'll just tell them they better behave or I'll shave their heads!! :) Anyway, on their blessing day the fun began: we were rushing into the chapel as the bishop announced that we were going to bless our babies. SO, Derek didn't really take a good look at the baby that I handed him AND you guessed it--he blessed Stewart with Spencer's name at first. No, we didn't switch their names at that point, Derek just reblessed him. I don't know if Derek will ever stop getting teased in our ward, but don't tease him too much 'cause he's such a GREAT father!!

Any twin parent knows that it is more worrisome to mix them up in public than in private. Don't worry the tiredness will go away in a few months.
I can remember how easy it was for me to tell my twins apart when they were babies...and I even covered up the red spot at the top of Lizzie's forehead in her hairline so it wouldn't be noticed in the pictures! ... Of course years later, it became almost impossible for me to tell who was who in those old pics from days gone by!
How I wished I would have let that little red mark be seen, so I would have had an easier time figuring out who was who later on! :-) I actually recorded who was who in one of their photo albums back in the day when I didn't really think it would matter because I'd always be able to tell them apart...and thank goodness I did, because I would have never been able to figure it out without that cheat sheet!
So, make sure to take note, even if it is just a scribble on the back of a photo, or saving them into their own folder online. You'll be glad you did someday!
Its so great to see you guys getting farther into that milestone of a first year together. Before you know it, they will be off to Kindergarten.
You are in our thoughts and prayers!
Is it bad that I have told that story about Derek mixing up the babies like a million times and will probably tell it a million more times? I think it's a classic.
On a serious note, I'm so happy for you guys and your family.
I wish we could've been there. I'm dying to see those cuties in the flesh!
You're family is so beautiful and full of miracles.
And, yes, we know Derek's a one-in-a-million daddy... even if he can't tell his kiddos apart... jk. ;)
LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH!
